After obtaining a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Beloit College and his Juris Doctor degree from University of Missouri – Kansas City, in 1975 Mr. Watt joined St. Louis Union Trust, the premier trust institution in St. Louis. In 1979, he was appointed Manager of the Probate Department of St. Louis Union and then later assumed the role of Manager of the Personal Trust Department. He managed a staff of 55 professionals with assets under management of $9 billion and personally handled some of the most sensitive client relationships within the organization. He served on Officers Closely-held Committee and was a board member of Boatmen’s Trust Company of Illinois.  In 1991, Mr. Watt completed the ABA Trust Executive Management Program at Wharton.

In 1997, with the acquisition of Boatmen’s by NationsBank (later Bank of America), Mr. Watt assumed the role as Manager for trust administrative staff for St. Louis. After serving in that role for nine years, Mr. Watt retired from Northern Trust to open his independent personal trust consulting practice.

Mr. Watt joins the Fiduciary Advisors, Inc. team as a Personal Trust Consultant, advising beneficiaries of their rights and helping them to understand their trust and investment reports.  He also advises trustees of their investment and fiduciary duties.
